numpty trainee question - again !!

Thanks again for the tips. I`ll give the shorter guide a go when I`ve got stuff right with the standard one but thanks anyway. For the "difficult" bends for the test I printed them off, enlarged them to life size and hey presto Ive now got guides to practice with.As said before, to pass the...

numpty trainee question - again !!

Once again thanks. I got some tube and think I`ve cracked it (not the tube!!). basically pulled to 2nd mark to get main bend then "tweaked" the legs back. My problem was I was overbending the first bend. Many thanks for the advice. I feel much more confident now. This is the second time...

numpty trainee question - again !!

OK, here is the question. As part of my upcoming assessment I have to do a full passover (without using fittings - bending only) on 15mm pipe such that the passover is 30mm "deep". Should I start with a 45 bend and then bend each "leg" back or is there a simpler way ? I always seem to get a...

Another numpty question - X values

Agile - you were spot on. Didnt bother with a vernier or calculator, got some pipe, couple of fittings and a 600mm rule. Sorted. At least we all had fun !! I`ll agree that I certainly wont let a pint go flat over this either !!!

Another numpty question - X values

Spot on. Normally I would cut as I went along. problem is that they expect specific measures. Anyway, progress to date is: For a 90 end feed elbow (15mm) inpact is 10mm per elbow For a 90 compression (22mm) impact is 11mm per elbow For a 90 solder ring (15mm) impact is 15mm per elbow Its...

Another numpty question - X values

OK, OK I give up - please no more....... Right, I figured it out the old fashioned way. Bear in mind Im a numpty trainee and wanted to find out the x value for a joint fitting. Now you folk will know this thru experience but I managed to sort it. Basically I wanted join 2 lengths of 15mm...

Trainee and my soldering is crap !!

Once again, thanks. I have now carried out some more practice soldering on 21 joints (mix of t`s, straights, bends) and then pressure tested - No Leaks !!! So your advice has been heeded. What I did was pay more attention to cleaning, not too much flux and got better at checking that pipe was...

Trainee and my soldering is crap !!

Many thanks for the feedback. I think I have been using too much flux - should I wipe the excess off after fitting the set but prior to soldering ?? I`ll practice a load more and put more time into the cleaning as well. I`ll let you know how I get on Many thanks again

Trainee and my soldering is crap !!

Right, time to ask the experts. Im a trainee plumber and whatever I try, my soldering seems to be crap. How do I know this ? - leaks !! and the joints just dont seem as clean as ones Ive seen. What am I doing wrong, or more importantly, how can I do it right ? Is it the cleaning ?, too much...

    Creda T6226W dryer

My Creda T622CW condenser tumble drier has stopped drying !! Everything works perfectly except for the hot air - there aint any. Can this be fixed easily and cheaply or is it a "bin it" job. Im quite handy so if its a part replacement then thats fine. Oh - and where would be best to get a...
