    Do I remove skirting board beofre plastering?

    Ah i have just had a room plastered and didnt remove the skirting, I wish i had now and will do for all the other rooms i am doing. But i suppose it depends on if you intend removeing and replacing Or just painting the skirting board you have now. p.s i am a diy'er and not an expert.

    No i dont think so, the electrics are old. Might decide to just run a new socket from the main, but was just checking because this is a cheaper option

    Skirting

    Start at the top and work down, Do your cutting in first, then paint the walls. it would make the job alot easier if you Paint or varnish your skirting first, before you put it on the wall

    Gloss work

    I would say it obviously had loads of coats over the years. Some good, some not so good so its all uneven and is not nice to look at not for me anyway. So i want to take of as much paint as possible. Also is one white gloss better than another, should i water down .

    Thanks for the advise, i thing from the sound of it its best to rip it all out and just start again. I think if your going to spend the time living looking at it, you should have it just as you want.

    Lining Paper or Not

    Lining paper is used to line uneven walls Walls that are pitted and have problems. Dont put it up if you have just had them plastered, could he be suggesting this to make money out of you.

    I am ****e at cutting in, i just dont have a steady hand. Whats the best way to make sure you dont have to go over and over the places that you have painted. I have tried masking tape but it just pulls the paint of the wall
