What cable have you installed to your fan? you need 3 cores + earth. Ususally from the ceiling rose: red/brown - permanent live, yellow switched live, black/blue -neutral. If you haven't got the 2 live connections it wont work.

I've come across this time and time again. Take the batteries out of your smoke detectors and see if it still happens. BUT PUT THEM BACK AFTERWARDS! Unless you have mains operated smokes with back up batteries, in which case put new batteries in.

I haven't actually got the oven and hob yet so I don't know the output. the oven is A rated for efficienct though - if that means anything.
