Thanks both. I've spoken to one retailer who carries a universal case seal. I'd already asked the BG engineer if such a thing was available and he said not (?). Can one of these be fitted (i.e. was the BG engineer giving some bs) or does it have to be the correct part. Cheers again.

Just had British Gas round to do a service and they've disconnected the boiler as the case seal has gone, apparently obsolete. The BG bloke said I might be able to find one if I ring round a few places but might not be able to find one. So, anyone know where is the best place to try for one of...

the only thing that i can see that controls hot water/ch is the 2 way zone valve, i cannot have ch on without hot water so i assume that this is the only control on the system. Could the coil inside the cylinder still have air in it, if so how do i remove it(i have drained down once). Could it...

I've tried the ch, radiators get hot, so can't be the pump? I have drained down the system (with the zone valve open), refilled slowly bleeding pump and radiators as it filled. Tried again, got ch but pipes going into cylinder are still cold. Did hear a few bubbles through the expansion pipe...

When I have this problem it is normally the connector where the pipe from the machine joins the waste water pipe, on mine this can be unscrewed and there is a plastic bar in it that picks up crud from the machine's waste, eventually blocking it. Failing that the same pipe could be blocked/split...

there is no cylinder stat, only stat is on boiler, have turned this up to full. Have checked zone valve (this only switches heating on and off) and is working OK. I don't know about the tap stat or blue cyltrol valve, how do i find and check these?

Checked in the airing cupboard, there are no valves. The pump is located above the boiler, not near to the cylinder. The pipework to all the radiators and to the cylinder gets hot so does this mean that there is not a blockage. I have seen on other posts that a de-aerator has been recommeded...
