Hi All

Is there anything I can get to replace a standard 1 gang 1 way lightswitch for a porch light with a timer?

Something like http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMFST11.html?

Is that suitable? Or is there anything designed more specifically for lights?

Thanks :)

Is changing the lightswitch for an outside light part pee notifiable? Does it count as 'outside' work? The lightswitch itself is indoors

The one above requires a neutral, so you might want to check that there is one present at your light switch before purchasing it.

Changing a switch inside is not notifiable even if the switch is for an outdoor light.

Do you know if there is a neutral wire at the switch?

The work will be non-notifiable

yep - there is

not sure quite how 'orthodox' the arrangement is - supply live into the switch and 'load' live into the switch with the 2 neutrals choc'd together

This is a normal way of doing things, and is becomming more common these days.

Having a neutral at the switch means that you can use virtually and time switch.

Some will not work without, but lots of good recommendations above.
