Philips do a very attractive 20W or 25W energy saving lamp with a big round globe (about 110 mm I would say).

Called "Electronic decor"

Colour balance is very good and it has quick start up.

Not cheap but lasts for years.

Not widely sold but prob avail at an electric shop.

Yes there is.

T1 lampholders are rated to 60W, T2 to 100W.
