Is there more than one way?

I've laid cable in like this:

but have seen this:

I'm not really bothered as long as it works and have loads of 3C+E to use up.

Obviously the second diagram using red for all the cables is about as much use a a chocolate teapot for a DIYer.

Yes there are two common ways, this

is the method you show, and there is only one connector block used in the intermediate switch, this is same with other method, but at school we were taught this

as two way wiring, which means a connector block in each two way switch rather than this

which used no connector blocks until the intermediate is used. Nearly all two way wiring has a problem in that the neutral is not run with the lives, technically this is wrong, as there can be some capacitive or inductive linking, this was never a problem with tungsten bulbs, but can be a problem with LED bulbs if it is a long run.

Electronic switches often work as master slave, and the links between master and slave do not carry current so there is less linking, and even in some cases wireless linking is used, so the old diagrams may not work with some electronic switches, so today there are even more wiring diagrams on how to do two way switching. We have moved to voice control.

I find the switch symbol in your diagrams can cause confusion as to which terminal is the Common/

I blame electronic workbench which I used many years ago to draw the diagram. No longer installed on my PC so can't use it any more.

It depends on what you call a "way".

Different ways are just connecting some of the conductors(wires) at different places on the basic circuit.
