Hi,

I am in the process of installing a new patio and got some advice form a neighbour who is a retired builder. He advised me to use a 50mm concrete sub base mixed to a ratio of 7 to 1. I said I was going to use a 75mm MOT sub-base and then tamp it down. Has anyone else used a 7-1 concrete base for their patio and are there any problems associated with using one. He said I could borrow his mixer so its not a problem mixing the cement up.

agree with Thermo, the mot will help drain the water from the bedding mortar and will make the slabs easier to point.
