Only ever found 1 cover better than the original IMO.
Gun... with 'word up'. They just seemed add 'something' to that song.
Just ignore the crap video that goes with it.

GnR's 'Live and let die' was good but no better than the original. :!:

Again, like films, very few cover versions are better, but you do get exceptions. The additional problem is that the bigger the star who did the orginal, the bigger a hill you have to climb.

Jarvis Cockers version of The Beatles With A Little Help From My Friends was an example of the cover being better than the original, Ringo never was a fab singer. Some say he wasnt even a fab drummer, either - once, when a friend commented that he though Ringo was one of the top four drummers in the world, John Lennon replied 'Fook off, he isnt even one of the top four drummers in the Beatles" . Personally, i think his best drumming was when he narrated Thomas the Tank Engine on TV.

Ringo's drumming absolutely MADE The Beatles.

If you listen to the Beatles music with Pete Best on drums you will realise. They had the foresight to sack him and become the unique entity we all know. :D
