And it's a simple leak one at that.

The hot water input into the shower valve assembly keeps leaking and we can't seem to stop it.
Normal threaded male screws in , and i've had 3 goes at it now each with a little more tape on , all of which has had no real effect. The last attempt was with a new insert but again........drip drip drip !

Cant see a fault in the casting of the valve or in the threads so any idea or something i can use when trying again that will stop this pesky little problem .
Any compound that i could use instead / with the tape ?

Thanks

Try a LOT more tape - I usually tape 'em up so much that I can only just get the thread started into the fitting. Sometimes 20 turns or more. It soon squashes down when you put a spanner on it.

Gas fitters PTFE tape is thicker, so you wouldn't need so much of it

Wind the tape to form a taper ie. more tape towards the back of the thread or use Loctite 55 cord.

I had the same problem with a Wicks shower, when fitting the doglegs into the wall mounted elbows the threads were sooo sloppy that a FULL roll of PTFE did not seal them, i got round the problem by fitting a rubber O ring inside the elbows and bottoming the doglegs in the theads, all been ok for over a year now.
