One of the walls in my living room only has 1 x 13amp double socket outlet in the corner. I would like to add some additional sockets further along the wall. Is this just a case of spurring off the existing socket or will I have to have new cabling run back to the consumer unit?

Hi, if you existing socket is proven to be part of the ring and does not have a spur taken from it already you could add 1x double 13a as a spur. If you require more than 1 additional socket you would have to extend the ring. If you want a bank of sockets for av kit you could spur a FCU of the ring and add as many sockets as you require from the LOAD side of the FCU the maximum load on all your new sockets would be 13a.
