i just had a new pump fitted and i cannot seem to get rid of the air in the system the air seems to be in two rads one upstairs and one down. every time the heating comes on i have to bleed both these rads. also i have a problem with the heating coming on when the hot water is switched on. i had to change my timer switch from a switchmaster 900 to a compatable centaurplus c21. could this be wired in wrong.

Most open vent systems are sludged up, chances are yours is as well which can cause the sort of problem you describe. Some compatible timers need a change in the wiring, the corgi installer who did the job should be able to confirm (in writing) that adjustments have been made where necessary. If the pump is fitted the wrong way round you can get air coming back in the system as well. One check you can easily do for your self is to switch the system on and see what happens in the header tank. When you are there, check the ph of the water in the tank. Under 7 and you almost surely need a flush.
