All,

I'm converting my garage into a home office. It currently has front and rear doors of similar sizes and I want to remove the rear doors. I have no brick laying skills and was wondering if there was an alternative to brick. Someone has mentioned pyroc + brick slips to maintain the external look once finished

Is this a sensible approach? Do I still need for some of foundations for "the wall"?

Unless you are bonding the new work in with exact match bricks, then these never look right, and so it may be worth using something to completely contrast so that it looks like that it was meant to be like it

Consider shiplap cladding or a render panel or suchlike if your bricklaying skills are wanting.

If brick slips, then again go for a contrasting panel

You will build the panel as a timber frame, so no foundations required
