any ideas

my mothers sky box is playing up,its stuck on standby.

she's tried unplugging everything then putting it back on again but still no joy.

just thought i'd try on here before a call to an engineer,any help would be most appreciated.

btw the sky box is an amstrad if that helps.

or use a sledge hammer on it, i did and had immense satisfaction, , untill i wanted to watch the poker

Are the batteries in the remote OK ?

Are the any control on the main box (obviously i haven't got SKY ) that should bring it out of standby and if so do they. ?
