apple tree

I have got a "apple tree" in my front garden with "apples" on it.My question is ,is there such a tree that has posionous or at least unediable fruit on it .I am sure I remember such a tree from my youth I think we use to call it a"German" apple tree saddly that was so long ago I cannot be sure, I would be grateful for any advice

It's not poisonous if it's an apple. Crab apples don't taste too good though

cooking apples dont taste nice raw, but are safe to eat if you do

It was a tree I cut down 15yrs ago and has grown back from the roots .I was woorried because this year was the first year I had noticed fruit on it since all that time ago and I was going to take the fruit of before the local kids got to it as I was not sure ,anyway they beat me to it ,and still kicking their football at my car on the drive.Bless their cotton little socks
