Are we THIS stupid?

I agree Pickles.
So science has an answer: big bang started the univers, what was before is the great unknown (or not yet found out, which is different, like was there no gravity before it was discovered?)

According to the theory, there is no before.

According to an older theory the earth was flat, until the theory was proven wrong ;)
Theoretical there could have been something, but we haven't discovered what yet.

The big Bang was quite a big event. Events have cause. So what prompted the 'nothingness' to become a something? Call it God if you like. (BTW Pickles, God doesn't have to be a human conciousness)

Well, can't argue with that.

A non sequitur.

Yes it does. Something must have acted on the nothing to make it a something. Let's call that something God.

Causality, look it up. I'm not saying I necessarily believe in it.

The non sequitur is the before time existed. By definition, there can be no before time existed, as before, is indicative of a timeframe. Therefore a non sequitur.

Quite right, also Joe you can't call it God because that assumes a sentient being and there is no evidence one exists post big bang never mind before it

Nonesense. Something must have acted upon the nothing to make it a something. Therefore something must exist out of time altogether.
Why didn't the big bang happen an infinite amount of time ago? Why did it happen when it did? Why are we in year 2006? To say that time didn't exist isn't true. The universe may expand and then collapse into a regular 'big bang'. The biggest effect in history was the big bang - yet you say it has no cause?

Your proof?

kicks up too many paradoxes, i.e. why isn't the sky white?

It didn't there was no time.

Causality, I really suggest you read about it, I can't lecture you about it, 'cos I don't pretend to know the in's and outs, merely read and come to your own conclusions, which of course could be .... what a load of old tripe.

possibly.

I'll take that as a yes then.

Take what as a 'yes'? Science has no answers to what happened before the Big Bang. That's where science starts.

joe

That's rather arrogant to believe that we as humans "created" science is it not. The fact we can't explain some stuff, does not invalidate it, for instance science cannot satisfactorily explain what happens beyond event horizons and singularities does not mean a great deal.

It (science) also cannot answer is there a God. Probably because the question is flawed. i.e. define God first.

Science is also not able to understand women

Eddie. the fact that we are where we are, chatting in a forum is proof that at some place at some time something happened that gives just two possibilites:

Something created us and everything around us from its own fabric.

Something acted upon nothing and created the known universe.

That fact that we are here is proof that it must be one or the other.

God loves you Eddie.

We are all sparks of the divine flame (not electricians).

We are all God's children.

We can never be lost or forgotten.

We don't know why we are seperated from the Father but we do know that we are on our way home.

Just rejoice and be happy in that fact.

God is love, God is everything.

"Take my hand, I'm a stranger in paradise...."
