Ariston margerita 2000 - dryer comes on when not selected

Whatever wash programme I select, when i press the start button the dryer light comes on even though the dryer time is set to '0'
At the end of the wash cycle the dryer then comes on and will not stop until stopped manually by turning the programme selector knob to a 'stop/reset' position.
The on/off lamp then flashes rapidly but for longer than it used to until eventually it flashes slow indicating the door can be opened.

How can I fix it???

My partner has now fixed this problem from some inf. he got from another forum.
For anyone who may have a similar problem some wires had become detached from the dryer time selector. Re-attached them and works fine again now
