I don't think there's any way of testing them as such.
There should be a screw-down cap on the top, this needs to be left loose in normal operation.
If the mechanism fails and lets water through, you can close the cap to stop the flow. In this instance the AAV will function as a manual vent until a new one can be fitted.
on some ya can push the pin in (like on a shreader valve) and see if water comes out, but if theres muck in the system its likely to leak after..
