Hello,

we are redoing our bathroom at the moment. It was tiled from floor to ceiling, but when they came of so did the plasterboard. We are thinking of half tilling when we redo it. Should I use backerboard all the way up, or just to where the transition would be, then use MR plasterboard the rest of the way up?

cheers

Have a look at the Foam Filled Boards as well. Particularly for Shower/Bath Area. Fully Waterproof.
Elements, Marmox, Wedi, Delta and others. Easy to work with and cut.
If on a Stud, it would require extra Noggins as more flexible than PB and BB

It depends on how much you need the cost saving but theres no need to backer board any areas that aren't exposed to direct water ie around a bath or shower area. General moisture boards could be used here or above your half tiled area.

Hi Thanks for the replies. I probably will go for the backer board. It’s only a small bath room, so won’t impact the cost too much. I’ve read that it can be plastered one primed. does anyone have any experience of this?
