Bath hot water tap not running (don't worry not mine!)

My parents bath hot water tap has been dodgy for a while, to the point that it provides no water. Taken the cover off the tap, and found a non-descript valve in place, that seemed totally seized. Anyway to free that up/take it apart? As presumably when it is removed, it will shoot the backlog of water out?

My thinking atm are; take tap cover off, and squirt valve with WD40, and leave turned on?

Dissolve a calcium tablet in water and spray all over the workings of the tap?

Attach a hose to the hot tap, and back pressure it from the cold tap?

All of these options sound highly likely to fail on a majestic scale. Dripping taps, I can nearly get my head round, but no water?

With forums, is it that people just reply automatically, and not bother to read what the question is, or do people just guess, and make stuff up?

'Remove the tap gear' - You mean the totally seized unit that won't undo?

I ask, will the lack of water not cause a flood when this is removed; no mention of that in the post.

'Fit a new tap', it's on a bath, and access is severely restricted, which would involve removing various fitted tiles, and a sink unit, and then presumably both taps would need to be replaced, as to remain a matching set?

I, unlike the 99% of keyboard experts out there, that are versed in repairing faults like this before breakfast, am not an expert. I ask for help, not conjecture.

I'm a computer expert, but next time your computer doesn't come on, hit it, turn it off, hit it again, turn it on. That works.

You want an answer to a question but provide no information to base an answer on :!:
As you are a computer expert, let me phrase your question in a way you will perhaps understand.

My parents computer has been dodgy for a while to the point it can no longer play games. Took the cover off and found a non descript circuit board and some other stuff in place that looked totaly fkd?
Anyway to free it up/take it apart? As presumably when it is removed it will shoot the backlog of volts up my arm?
My thinking atm are; take the cover off, and squirt the circuit board with some WD40 and leave turned on?
Disolve a calcium tablet and spray it over the keyboard?
Attach an extension cable to the transformer and back feed it from the mains?
All of these options sound highly likely to fail on a majestic scale. Blue screens i can get my head around but no games?

Does that sound about right or make enough sense to you to give a definitive answer :?:

Answer this near enough, and i will tell you how to fix your parents taps even with the limited non information you have given.

Clue all computers, like taps, are not the same ;)

Oh I love the irony!

Taps to me are binary either 0 or 1. On or off. If there is a massive datalog backed up on the computer bus, when a bit isn't switching, even after the data source has been removed, that backlog results in a bluescreen error, and a memory dump. Sometimes the system will be flooded, and a reinstall will be required.

This system requires a load of 1's, but is supplied with 0's, but a load of 1's are still held in the system, for when the faulty device is removed, then those 1's will be free to flood the system.

A valve is a valve is a valve. A computer is not equal.

A tap has water going into it, you turn it on, it flows water. This tap has water going into it, but no water coming out of it. I 'somehow' remove the seized innards of the tap, does the tap leak or not?

Dear Mick
As you have got no sense to your question, Yes you would get a gush of water.
You can buy new inserts for most types of taps. But you will have to to turn off the water first. A good soak with DW might help in loosening the siezed parts.
How to turn off the water depends on type of system. Combi or tanks.
I am not a plumber just a DIYer who cant sleep.

not talking about thermionic ones, then ;)

"Nah- us tradesmen use Urine"

That normally goes in the roof tank though.

From the experiences of boiler repairers that have 'had a go' at my boiler, andf broke it more, never truer was a comment made in jest..

JonB - can you clarify the term 'insert' ? They had a tank system, then had a combi fitted, and the problem was with both. The installer of the combi didn't tell them how to top up the boiler, that I found strange? as a rad was bled, the pressure dropped, and they called out the installer as this wasn't mentioned.

JonB - can you clarify the term 'insert' ? To set within something; to put or thrust in; to introduce; to cause to enter, or be included, or contained; as, to insert a scion in a stock; to insert a letter, word, or passage in a composition; to insert bit into a tap
They had a tank system, then had a combi fitted, and the problem was with both.so existing problem due to old worn taps The installer of the combi didn't tell them how to top up the boiler, that I found strange? they may have forgotten. No disrespect meant but there is a lot of imformation to take in in a 5 minute brief even for younger peopleas a rad was bled, the pressure dropped, naturallyand they called out the installer:) as this wasn't mentioned.

Have you figured out what is wrong with my computer yet and i am not interested in binary anything :?:
