Hi All,

I'm looking for a bathroom door for a loft conversion.

Wishlist
- provide some degree of soundproofing
- wont warp, swell, peel etc with warm moist bathroom air
- need to able to trim it
- to be painted
- do not want moulded
- can be treated if necessary (but still require it to be painted)

There seems to be 2 main options from the regular places - softwood or veneered. Will these be ok? The door won't see direct water spray but the shower head is within approx. 1m.

Thanks.

To minimise the failure points use softwood. Only thing that can happen then is warping, which can happen with any door and is just a fact of life. Acclimatise for a few days (to check for warping so you can return it to the vendor), then paint all surfaces and hang with three hinges.

With correct siting of extractor fan and correct use moisture shouldn't be a problem.

....and a solid block core one at that, very little chance of it warping then.
