I have just fitted a new bathroom suite. The problem is that,on the short side of the bath ther is a gap of about 1" which tapers down to nothing. Can this gap be "feathered" in with plaster before I tile or is it best to pack the tiles out with lots of adhesive .Any help appreciated.

Hi,

To be honest, I probably would have tried to get the walls square and plastered before fitting the suite. Would have avoided this issue that way. You'll struggle to build up an inch with tile adhesive - what about over boarding the offending area with plasterboard or similar?

You can’t build up an inch with plaster or tile adhesive; as Gareth suggests the best you can do is to batten out the wall one end so it's square, fix some aquaboard (plasterboard next to a bath is not really a good idea) & then tile over that.

If you have enough room at the other end of the bath, another solution may be to move the whole thing down by a tile width at the widest point, batten it out & create a tiled shelf for all your bits & bobs. You will still have what amounts to a very out of square wall but it won’t be quiet so obvious.
