Hi all

We have a small shower room and have had an extractor fan installed. We still need to get the job finished and have the vent extracting out.

There is a small brick store room to the rear of the shower room and the vent currently goes into this room.

We have a couple of options:

(1) to vent out to the front of the store room - the grill will be visible from the drive and might be a bit tricky to fit as we have guttering running down the side where the vent would extract out to.

(2) vent through the roof of the store room. We won't be able to see the vent as we have a parapet wall but I imagine we'd need some sort of a cowl or vent cover at the top of the roof to prevent water leaking in.

Any ideas on the best option pros and1§ cons? We'd like to keep it discrete so 2) is our preferred but not sure if going through the roof is the best approach?

Thanks for any advice

Going out through the wall is easier. You don't need to be as skilled compared to someone going through the roof.

Unless you can get someone competent to go through the roof without the risks of a leak, you may as well go through the wall.

Hi all

Yes a flat roof is correct. Sounds like going out to the front of the store wall might be less grief. Can I just buy a standard 100 mm vent kit ie fixed ducting to fit to rear of vent and into the store and then use flexible vent to turn 90 degrees out to the front of the store and finish off with an external vent grill?
