I am replacing the original shower extractor fan with a new one in the loft above a fully enclosed (floor to ceiling, wall to wall) shower cubicle. Can I put the ceiling pull switch just outside the cubicle in zone 2 or does it have to be at least 60cm away? Also can the 3 pole fan isolating switch be fitted out of reach in zone 2 up near the ceiling (above 2.25M) or does this have to be outside the bathroom?

What you are describing sounds like they are outside the zones? There is a pic of the zones here: //www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:bathroom-zones

This is where it becomes a bit silly - the law still refers to the 16th edn regs. In the area 600mm away from the shower cubicle, above 2.25m to 3m is classed as the old zone 3 hence adding a switch here is a notifiable activity under part p of the building regs (England+Wales)
