Our loft conversion is almost finished and (among other issues) we have discovered our builder has just reused our original loft insulation under our new loft floor. Chatting to neighbours also having lofts done they were advised to improve insulation to reduce sound issues for bedrooms below.
We are having carpet and now looking for the best underlay to reduce noise and for warmth. Each carpet place I call suggests something different. What is generally the best option?
1. One suggested cork then underlay then carpet as cork is light and reduced noise really well.
2. Second said a good normal underlay with DB and tog rating would be fine such as Cloud 9
3. Third suggested specialised acoustic underlay and good carpet will do.
What are people's thoughts please?
