Hi, off mains gas and do not fancy being held hostage to gas contracts or future oil prices (or having large tank in our small garden) so going with the Rayburn solid fuel option plumbed in to a Thermal Store. The Rayburn will provide up to 40,000 btu hour (11.7 kwh?) if we run it fully. Will also be adding solar thermal for summer hot water.
We are fitting 5kw of radiators to 3 beds lounge and hallway (possible further bed going in to loft conversion) and will also have to add some underfloor to a kitchen and seperate utility/bath later (after we have dug up the existing slab). This system will also supply all of our hot water, currently 1 bath/shower but adding an ensuite shower if we go in to the loft).
Research so far only really gives me the general chat about adding this kind of system a good few years ago, nothing really up to date. Has there been much progress in what was a fairly new industry? Gledhill seems to be the way to go for Thermal Store but this is kind of a default as there is most info out there on these. I was going to opt for the 400 hoping that this will provide a bigger buffer for running the stove hot to charge initially then a little lower keep topped up?
Any advice and real world experince would be very welcome.
Many thanks.
