Best tools to cut out brickwork for French Doors?

I (actually, my wife!) want to fit french doors where a window is. Used a 9 inch angle grinder at our last house, but it was a right pain! My brother tells me of a jig that you can fit to the brickwork and run a special tool down, but can't remember where he heard of it. Any ideas? And yes, I have notified building control and paid my money!

The certainly work, but they are hardly dust free! Still better than an angle grinder, though. They are used "freehand", not run down a guide

Stihlsaw with hose connection and a slight trickle of water was how i did it, i'm not saying that this is the 'best' way but it certainly worked for me.
fix some vertical timber battons to use as guides and off you go!
