The top is held down by the sides. Turn the ring at the bottom of the side in such a way that it slides behind the metal, you can then remove the side easily. When both sides are off, the top can be taken of easily as well.
It's a ham-fisted way, but I found one or a combination of both below methods worked on 9 out of 10 radiators:
Using two pairs of pliers, grip the grills on one side of the top cover and wriggle and pull up.
Place a flat screwdriver though the grill of the top cover and press it against the top of one of the side covers, then hammer the screwdriver until the side cover pops out.
It was easy to return covers using a pair of pliers to straighten hinges and a soft covered mallet.
I was wondering this as ordered stelrad compact k2's and wish I'd gone for elites. I assume the stelrad K2 rads are just elites with covers so i can just take them off?
