Hi,
Could anyone give me some advice on what could be wrong with a blocked hot water tap.
My sister asked me to have a look at her hot water tap in her bathroom, the hot water in her sink just dribbles, but her bath tap flows OK, could the washer have gone in the tap, or could it be something else?
Cheers Eddie

Yes could be tap i turn off hot water and open up the tap cover and remove the inside and silicone grease it to free off easy job if your not sure call a plumber only 5min job ;)

it might only be a 5-10 min job, however in my eyes you still have to charge a call out type fee of say £35 (in leicester) to do the job.

Yes i agree with you and £35 is very cheap
Eddie take him up on that i charge £45 ;)

yeah...i've tought sometimes its cheap compared to others
sometimes i truggle to say £45 for a simple job !!
i also have thoughts of trying to retain that customer for the future...might be a bathroom or boiler next time.

Maybe its cheap but maybe its what has helped me not advertise since year 2 of business (been plumbing 5 yrs now)

god knows...

is it a recently fitted tap?

when did it last work properly?

sry not knocking you we live in different areas and different rates seem to apply in different areas(overheads house prices e.c.t.)

Apart from 1 church mag(editor gets a free service ;) ) i don't advertise either..

I do tend to do it a lot cheaper 4 existing customers with a cup of tea and biscuit

More likely to be the valve itself full of scale or debris, particularly on the hot tap. Isolate or drain hot water, remove the valve and take to your local plumbers merchant who can attempt to match it for you. May be just as cheap to buy anew pair of cheap taps and use the valves from them. Replace both valves while you are at it.
