Hi,

I've just changed the motorised valve on my CH system as it was leaking.
I think I might have an air lock, as the boiler will run for a few seconds but then shut down.
The radiators downstairs have all bled ok, but the upstairs rads seem to have very little pressure in them.
The pump is also noisy when it's running. (It wasn't before) Also the pump only starts when I turn on the CH, and not the hot water.
The boiler is a Potterton Netaheat HE50.
I'd really appreciate any advise.

Many Thanks

Geoff

Try bleeding the pump from the centre screw.

the pump may not be running on call for HW just cause the programmers on the cyl stat maybe to temp.

Hi,
Thanks for that,
Yes, I turned up cyl stat and it ran the pump.
I've tried bleeding the pump, but it doesn't seem to help.
Should I bleed it for a few minutes or more?

Thanks again

Geoff

make sure pumps not running when you bleed it, take screw right out
just hold rag under it.
then replace screw
put heating/hw both on.
turn pump up to top speed 3
try it.

Have you a manual bleed vent on flow pipe into the cylinder ?

Hi,
I just tried that but no joy.
Yes there is a bleed vent, quite a bit of air came out of it.

Thanks again

sometimes they need to be bleed a few times depending on layout of system.

can also check the f/e is still fully of water.
