I've just replaced 2 radiators for a friend, and the boiler is now causing problems
I drained the system entirely by tying up the ball cock in the header tank.
Replaced both radiators, refilled and then bled the system.

On firing up the system, the boiler (Ideal Classic FF50) ignites, but then shuts down, I suspect the overheat stat is kicking in as the boiler gets hot.

I should add that when the system was drained, my friend forgot to turn the boiler off, and the timer kicked in the HW, so the pump was cycling without any water in the system!

Ideas as to what the problem is would be gratefully received.

All fixed and working now.

It was indeed the pump needing bleeding, so many thanks for the tip
