Boiler Problem

Hi Folks,

I have an Ideal Elan 2 Boiler thats has a small problem.

It starts up as normal from the timer, it will run for a few hours switching off and on i guess as the thermostat indicates. It will switch off at one point and then not return on. The only way it will come back on is if i give it a bang on the control box. After i do this it will run for another few hours then stop until i give it a bang again.

I had a guy looking at it but it was running fine when he was round so he could not find any fault.

Any Ideas?

pcb fault, you are jogging the relays into working....... replace and all should be well

A defect like this should be easy to find. Assume nothing- check it out with a multimeter. You can indeed change the PCB. What if it still fails to work after the PCB has been replaced. Good money down the drain.

Check first and then replace- NOT replace first and then check.
