You don't say what TYPE of boiler you want.
Combi - probably never as long-lived as other types.
Conventional condenser - to fit in with existing cylinder, tanks, etc.
CPSU - if space is a key issue.
....
Summarise the complete requirement

baxi 105he cant believe no one raves about them on here, vaillants are also good, personally wouldn't fit a worcester by choice.

 the 105he

oh dear, IMHO not a very good boiler, start off ok but start to breakdown alot after two years or so.

Typical that all these installers cannot even agree on whats a good boiler.

I would suggest that a repairer is better able to judge which ones are good and reliable rather than a "fit and flit". I repair them all and they all break down!

I would say that the quality of the installation has more relevance to the reliability than the make of boiler. A properly cleaned system is essential whatever the make.

If you asked ten different bakers how to bake bread they would probably give you ten slightly different recipes.

I agree with you about installers, but how many lads actually just install and dont service and maintain boilers, except for BG I would say very few.

there are and always will be as many opinions as there are plumbers. Fact of life.

But asking is the only way to start to get an idea what you may or may not need.

And again i agree with the fact that the boiler is only as good as its installation.

how many hot water taps/showers will be there, think about future extensions and possible loft conversion.

personally i would fit a vailliant system boiler.
and
an unvented hot water cylinder
and
upgrade incomming water service pipe to plastic(if not already)

expense now = happy heating and hot water.
