When the machine spins there is a knocking in the domestic cold water pipe. The flexible supply pipe can be seen to visibly pulse and a small amount of water enters the machine via the powder tray. This pulsing almost certainmly seems to be casued by the inlet valve rapidly opening and closing although the inlet valve does not appear to leak. I have temporarily disconnected the electric cables to the inlet valve and this stops the problem so there is obviously another sensor somewhere which is rapidly turning on and off the inlet valve druing the sopin cycle rather than it perhaps being a fault with the inlet vale itself.
