Bosch Exxcel Auto Option Freestanding Dishwasher - help!

Hi,

We've just been given a Bosch Exxcel Auto Option Freestanding Dishwasher (SGS5362GB/01) - it had been in a friends garage for approx 18 mths. They'd had it for 12 months before having a new kitchen fitted and they had a fitted dishwasher installed.

Anyways, we got it plumbed in and turned it on...all ok. So we ran an empty quick wash cycle with a dishwasher cleaner and that appeared to work ok. However afterwards when we loaded the dishwasher for real it wouldn't start.

What we've tried so far....

• We checked the base and all the water seems to have drained correctly.
  We turned it off at the mains for about 3 mins and back on again but it still wouldn't turn on.
  We tried to download a manual for further help from the bosch website but it didn't recognise the serial number that we got from the door of the machine (SGS5362GB/01).

We really don't know what to try/do next so any suggestions/advice would be excellent.

Hope someone out there can help - otherwise it's back to the kitchen sink for me!

pour a couple of bowls of water in the machine , switch on and see what happens
if machine starts then ;-

take off the left side panel
you will see a water flow matrix
look for black gunge, if so then take out and clean or buy a new one
if not pour 16 litres of near boiling water and a squirt of bleach , leave over night and the run the machine

let us know what happens
