my other half has owned a antique style brass standard lamp for a while.. it recently stopped working and i tried to take apart and figure out what was wrong.. i think it was just some loose wiring but in the process of discovering this i managed to break the black plastic bit of (what i think is called) the lamp holder...

can anyone give me some advice on where i can find a replacement?

and some tips on fitting it might be helpful too!

thanks!

As you say the fitting is old, you need to chech that it has an earth connected to the lampholder.

If not, you will need to also replace the supply cable to the fitting :)

yeah it does have an earth.. im not sure which one of those you linked to ill need though.. mine seems to look most like this one:

like i said, all i really need is the black plastic bit inside as i still have all the brass bits that match the rest of the standard lamp.. can i buy without the brass casing?

saying that.. the one i linked to doesnt look like its got the plastic insides (sorry for my lack of techie terms) as i cant see the plastic on/off switch sticking out of one side... so maybe this isnt the right thing after all?
