It appears that their hope that Europe would fall apart is but a whisper that they heard from their unicorns...

Switzerland referendum: Voters reject end to free movement with EU

"Swiss voters have rejected a proposal to end an accord with the EU allowing the free movement of people.

With all referendum votes counted, nearly 62% said they wanted to keep free movement, while 38% were against."

What was that about Brexit leading the way to the break up of the European social model?

The Swiss have referendums on all major policies, and the result was widely expected to be a no.

Usual nonsense from the scaremongers.....

"Opponents argued it would plunge a healthy economy into recession at an uncertain time and deprive hundreds of thousands of Swiss citizens of their freedom to live and work across Europe"

Good job it wasn't the other way around. Or the europhiles would still claim victory.
Blaming a bunch of ole codgers who will soon be dead.

Swiss go across the border on a daily basis for groceries and fuel.
Many swiss live across the border because it's a lot cheaper and cross into their country to work in well paid jobs.
My friend works there fitting stud walls at the equivalent of £5k/month, 35 hours/week with book on/off via mobile.
No surprise they rejected the proposal.
How many uk residents go abroad everyday for shopping and work???

brexers were hoping otherwise

here is Jeff Taylor a UKIPer with a youtube channel

"And don't forget that the Swiss are at the polls over this weekend to decide on whether they want Switzerland to continue with freedom of movement with the European Union - could be interesting"

If the Swiss feel so strongly about it, why aren’t they members of the EU or even the EAA?
