Need a better pic of the boiler guessing you have a Worcester and the receiver is built in ? or do you have a receiver somewhere outside the boiler ?

Sure. Yes it's a Worcester 37CDI Combi. The receiver is separate on the wall shown in pictures.

Well that is good news for you, the receiver that attaches to the boiler set up is limited and can be very expensive, you can have any RF set up you want as the wires are all ready there, just a matter of fitting the new receiver where that one is, if you need any help fitting the new set up just come back and we will help you out

Great. So I now need to source a new thermostat and receiver, assuming they are bought as a pair.
It would be nice to have one that could work with an app on a phone. I can do a bit of DIY and wiring. I'll make sure I isolate the mains before I start for safety.
