Changing the clutch on an 1800 is easy. Jack it up, remove the mountings, drop the engine so it's hanging from the O/S mountings and do it from underneath.
Hard to tell what the problem with BL was , whether it was the workers or the management. Issigonis was said to get in a strop if he didn't get his own way so they ended up making unprofitable cars.

UK carmakers were notorious for bad labour relations and amateurish, incompetent senior management. The workers and the bosses despised each other.
.

This sounds just like our building industry now. some never learn

Never, ever try to replace a clutch on an E series with it in the car
Suffered from sciatica ever since :(
John :)
When I was on the spanners I was only in my 20s. Young and agile! E-series clutches were easy, especially as I made a Special Tool (cut the heads off two bolts) to align the flywheel!

Oh, and Dave, would you really want to work on anything with half-a-ton of engine and gearbox hanging on two bits of rubber? I certainly wouldn't! BTW, I think you meant N/S mountings. The clutch was on the O/S of all the BMC/BL front wheel drive vehicles of that period (assuming RHD)

Only someone without the brains of a donkey could assert that Robbo and Corbyn were 'comrades'.

Ha ha, stop embarrassing yourself, I said Robbo was one of Corbyns heros.

Only somebody with donkey dung for brains would mistake hero for comrade or peer. :)

Is it your keyboard again?

Or is trying to cope with so many usernames giving you brain freeze

Sorry, I meant NS mountings. OS mountings are the ones you undo. Probably safe working underneath, the engine is so jammed in , it can't fall out (hopefully) . The carbon release bearings weren't a good idea, they could wear out quickly.

Oh dear, oh dear, what person thinks a hero can only be somebody that is of the same working age....
Almost certainly a person with donkey brains :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I did demonstrate that Corbyn was at odds with his 'peers' during his 'college' days and left the course because of his disagreement, if you had bothered to read and understand my comments:

Corbyn began a course in Trade Union Studies at North London Polytechnic but left after a year without a degree after a series of arguments with his tutors over the curriculum

Robinson subsequently ... worked as a tutor in trade union studies during the 1980s and 1990s

Obviously you did not bother to read my comments as you neither addressed them nor, apparently, understood them. You simply repeated your ridiculous assertion which I had already disproven.

Evidently Robbo was not one of Corbyn's heroes.

One of your earlier more ridiculous assertions:

tbh no one knows exactly what way har bee does do ??
Definitely a plumber :rolleyes::sick::eek::cautious:
And the reason blightymam left

Who knows reganandcarter maybe the latest one......

But it ran into financial difficulties in the 1970s and the company was bailed out by Harold Wilson’s Labour government in 1975 — a move that would now be impossible because of EU legislation.
We were in the EEC then. And surely government bailouts happened after that?

Proves nothing. You might just as well have posted the price of donkey feed

Robinson once worked as a tutor. Corbyn argued with different tutors.....so that proves he was no fan of Robbo

If you are trying to make a point at least come back with something remotely resembling a connection.
