I see that these new regulations will not apply to Scotland, only England and Wales, as Scotland will have its own rules and regulations.
Does anyone know what the Scottish system is or will be??

i belive scotland already requires electrical work to be signede of by a comptetent person

but i don't think they give any definition of competent or have any registration schemes

now that is funny you should ask.

I have had an email back today from the Scottish Executive - Building control department.

Scotland Building regs are due for a change as from May 2005.
It is proposed that Part N of the Scottish Building regs which already state that competant persons must sign electrical completion certificates will change to include a new Certification scheme - similar to Part P in England and Wales.

Details will be announced later this year about proposed certification bodies.

The email i got back today had this link in it which is the consultation document on the proposed May 2005 changes - if not read ti yet so dont know what it includes
