I have just moved into a house, with the boiler, pump, etc in a cupboard in the main bedroom. It gets a bit noisy, is very old, and I think will be hot in the summer.

The only practical alternative location for a new combi is in the largeish bathroom, in a corner, well away from the basin and bath.

Is it OK to have a combi in a bathroom? Will the steam/damp affect the boiler's electrics? Will a power point be allowed in the bathroom to run the boiler?

Also, in the cupboard with the old boiler is an insulated box that stores the hot water. What is this?

yes a combi in a bathroom is allowed as long as the wiring meets regs.

the "hot water in a box" sounds like the cylinder which sounds like you dont have a combi at present :!:

If the boiler is in the same cupboard as the Elson storage tank, then it makes sense to fit a new combi in that cupboard.Noise from modern boilers should not be a problem and neither will they make the bedroom hot in the Summer as they are well insulated.Just a thought as relocating is more expensive.
