Can you get a double socket, but one half hardwired?

A friend of mine wants to hardwire a TV booster in, as people keep turning it off in his B&B.
What "people"?

Who are they? Where are they? Why are they there?

Where is the TV booster? Why is it there? Where are the TVs it serves?

Why do these "people" think it's down to them to turn it off?

Ahh, but do the 'people' turn the booster off or does the booster turn them off?

There is such a thing as reading too much into things bas!

Working in a shop, manager moaned, all her phones went off and blamed me.
Asked her where the phone main box was, she suprisingly knew, because she said it goes off a lot and BT come out.

Looked and found socket switched off in the staffroom

Next to it was a sticker

"SAVE ENERGY"
SAVE THE PLANET
PLEASE SWITCH OFF

Proberly put there by one of the management
The shop staff were just doing what they were told
No one thought to simply remove the sticker
People seem obsessed with turning things off these days

Turning things off isn't necessarily an obsession - it's a sound idea. Some stuff uses ridiculous amounts of power on "standby", all to keep a clock and a little red light going, and to save a few seconds on startup.

It's been estimated that if everybody turned off their TVs/DVDs/Set-top boxes/phone chargers/microwaves etc etc when they didn't need them on, instead of just switching them to standby we'd save about 1 power-station's worth of electricity...

Perhaps obsessed was a bit harsh

I know they mean well, and others should follow there example.
But at least check what it is doing first, before turning it off.

I would happily turn my stuff off.
It is just the annoying flashing clock and wrong time the next day that stops me doing so.

I dont want the clock anyway, and no I am not going to dismantle my stuff to disconnect it,

If makers stopped that, then maybe more woud turn them off.
A built in switch to turn off just the clock display would do for me,
Or capacitors or something inside to retain the memory.

Err, is it coz I is a bird, or are you all ignoring me? I suggested a dual box and surface mounting to avoid damage.

I'm not taking it personally, though :(
