cant get water in !!!!!

vented hot water system, f & e tank, tried to no avail to get the system to fill ive connected hoses to mains etc and tried to move any air in system to no avail,water in rads downstairs but not a drop upstairs rads.
boiler is upstairs, tried to fill fortic by hand (jug) but it just trickles into the overflow !! stumped !!!!

Have you opened your 3 port valve to the mid position to allow water thru to the heating side. There is a lever which you hook over to open valve

port valve on c/h and hot water setting.this problem seems to have taken yrs / months and the system has finally dried up with no auto top up

Blocked cold feed?
Attach a hose to one of your rad drain offs (with the ball valve tied up) and see if water exits your tank. If not you have a blockage somewhere.

f&e tank isnt on the fortic check the loft

unless its single feed primatic

my tank has a cistern attached to top with a small copper cylinder in this
which the vent pipe goes into this then has a pipe coming out of bottm which goes to boiler this small cylinder is full of water checked loft no other tanks in there

there is a small pipe coming out of the bottom which tends to get blocked
if you can look inside you will see it

just been up to tank and attached hose to pipe coming out of bottom of small cylinder, and blew through it bubbles can be heard inside small tank so i presume its not blocked, 100% baffled now

can only be the pipe into the heating then
