I guess we have different views then.

My take was "Is this cable any good?"

followed by "What should I buy without spending the earth i.e. medium price"

That's quite distinct from the usual "Where/what is the cheapest?..."


Cat5 or coax - both solutions work. IMO coax is the simpler and more reliable solution. There's no need to worry about the cable being UV stable, or having to fit lightning protectors, or moisture ingress, or the quality of the baluns....these are all things that could trip up the DIY installer who just wants something quick to install and that's going to keep on working.

in terms of the bandwidth it can carry...yes

in terms of the lower level of signal loss...no

and all for the difference of 15 pence a metre
