We have just brought a 1960 bungalow with artexed celings which have cracked i have scraped the artex off and found flat plasered celing which is what we r after would scrimming or tapping the joints then skimming do the job ?
yes it would first check that the boards are not moveing along the crack if it is try to screw it back up first. then skrim the joint pva the ceilin and skim.
you can just scrim and feather out with multi of easyfill but you would get a better more consistant finish if you skim the lot.
good luck and if your doin it your self dnt forget the pva to control the suction and a chemical key
