I've taken a rose off and forgotten how to fix it back .Looked at wiki . These are the wires coming from the ceiling :

3 earths bare copper pin9
3 red in a block connector ,if I remember right
1 black with red sleeve pin2 switch
1 black pin6
yellow ?
blue ? =10 wires connected to straight line block 1 to 8
Many thanks to anyone who can sort this out .

Brown = Red
Blue = Black
Also you should have two blacks other than the one with the red sleeve.

The blue and yellow are unusual at the ceiling rose.
You will have to find where they go.

Ah. just realised -

The spare blue will likely be the missing black.

The yellow is probably spare but you should make sure.
Terminate it in a connector block and put out of the way.

The yellow may connect to the black with the red sleeve.

Is it a room with an extractor?

:LOL:

Joking aside, I have seen builders use the yellow in a 3 core as the cpc and snip the unsleeved conductor off....

Is there just one light in this room?

And if there's more, are they controlled by more than one switch?

Or, is this a toilet/bathroom, with an extractor fan?

Usually these are reasons for using the 3 core cable with the red, yellow and blue.

Hello and thanks for replying.
This is not my house so got to get back there and check but its kitchen with 2way switch ,one light . At the far switch (a 3 gang ) 1 for on/off main kitchen light and 2 others , 1 for cloakroom 1 for toilet . Will have to check if there's a fan .
Thanks for everyone's help .
