i had a new heating system fitted 7 months ago, and now i have got three problems with it, the first is the boiler keeps switching on and off,up to 20 times in one hour, until water up to temperature, there is a sound of rushing water in the pipes going to the boiler (sounds like toilet flushing) and the most annoying is the constant banging noises from under the floorboards upstairs. all this starts at 4 a.m when the hw switches on but is the same with just ch on. i would be grateful for any advice. many thanks. hayden :(

Sounds like the boiler is not interlocked with the cylinder stat and the room stat. I assume you have a room stat? or has someone just used thermostatic valves? I ask this as the banging just MAY be caused by all valves being closed, but not likely.

The wooooossssshhhhhiinnngggg noise is gas in the system If you bleed a radiator, does the water smell stale? If not then the installer did not add inhibitor and the gas is corrosion gas. Drain, add inhibitor and refill.

But having said this, a heating system should be ok for a little more than 7 months. Get the installer to fix it and just point out that the boiler should have been interlocked to comply with building regs and that not doing so is a criminal offence for which you can persue the installer for quite a lot of years. Not to mention the other possible infringements. In fact look up the building regs requirements here (it's a pdf) for ammunition.

thanks for the information,very helpful.
could you please explain what interlocking the boiler means to me before i contact the installers
