I got a new ceramic hob from John Lewis and i cannot find anywhere on it or in the instructions what amp it is.
The electricians put in a 60 amp switched line for it to be connected to so i am wondering if i use 60amp cable and it's not a 60 amp unit will this cause any problems to the hob, thanks keith

Maximum rating will be 6.4kW, it doesn't say if that's at 230 or 240v though.

Burner powerHeat output - 1x 2.2, 2x 1.2, 1x 1.8kW

Assuming 230v, current will be just under 28A without taking diversity into account.
I would recommend a 32A supply.

i have just had a look at my consumer unit and it says NSB32 on the trip labeled cooker, now i am sure they said 60amp for the hob, from what you have said i think i am ok, do you, thank you for your replies btw

That's a B type 32A breaker. This should be ok to supply flc to the hob.

Do you know what size cable it is? Perhaps when he said 60A, he meant the cable, not the breaker?

10mm² has a maximum loading of 63A.
