Repeat problem (twice) occuring a few months after fitting after getting stiff for a while.

B&Q said the water was too hot and the instructions say 65 degrees max. But the water temp is right down at Minimum (don't know what degrees) and the bath tap (same set but larger) which is right next to the hot water tank and obviously has lots of hot water flowing through it for ages at a time gives no problem. The sink is at the opposite corner to the tank and so is bound to have cooler hot water.

Is this a manufacturing fault? How can/why does a ceramic hot water tap get ruined by hot water (and why does it fail dangerous rather than fail safe)? Any ideas!?!?!

65 is way hotter than most people would want their water. Full thickness burns in 5 seconds sort of thing, you wouldn't want your hand under it at all! Washing up water is typically about 55.
At 65 you get some scale coming out of the water (like in a kettle) but it doesn't usually affect taps, so I don't know what B&Q are on about.

Some of the stuff they sell isn't great quality, but to be fair they're usually good with complaints - try going up a level!

Thanks for that.

Clearly the water's not been anywhere near the max specified in the instructions then.

ANyone got any idea's why it's happeneing then?
