CH pump - water flowing out of bleed screw

Hi folks,

I wonder if you can help me? I assume it is NOT normal for a lot of water to keep flowing (spraying) out of the CH pump when the bleed screw is removed (pump not running at the time)? Everything I read says I should expect a trickle, but for me it doesn't stop until the system is completely depressurised.

Does it sound like the pump is knackered?

I'm pretty sure it's not working as it should anyway, it spins, but doesn't seem to be adequately shifting the water away from the boiler.

Thanks in advance,
Will

I already had the head off, and to my untrained eye, the impeller looked pretty clean and as I imagined it should. Will inspect it more closely tomorrow. Thanks

Wilos tend to fly out, grunfoss just a steady trickle but in a pressurised system expect a pretty steady flow.

The pump was fine in the end. I was able to take it out and test it. It seems that Salmson pumps also let a lot of water out the bleed screw.

Turned out to be a stuck diverter valve not allowing enough flow through the CH system to take away the hot water.

Thanks for your assistance though.

Will
